Applying make is not enough to look beautiful and pretty ,Most important thing is that how you apply the makeup and are you aware of the real techniques of applying make up?If you are applying makeup the wrong way it will rather make you look weird. Its important to know how to apply makeup specially your contouring and highlighting these are such techniques that can change your look.Suppose you have a big face you can make your face look smaller if you have smaller face you can make it appear little bigger and noticeable via highlighting.

Various Face Shapes

Every one is different and has been gifted with  different characteristics some has talent of singing,Some are gifted with painting and many more.Likewise every one has different face and features and i would say all are beautiful in their own unique quality. But as we are human and are never satisfied with what we have we desire to be like someone we idealize. We can enhance our weaker points with contouring and highlighting tricks .

Lets get started by discussing the face shapes and how we can contour and highlight them.

Round Shape:

Some people have round faces they  can give little bit sharpness and dimension to their face.First we should highlight the center of  the face to elongate it then we will contour the perimeter area to narrow the face.

PRO TIP:
Lengthen your face with applying V Shapes highlighter under the eye.

How to highlight:

Applying Highlighter is an important task. When Applying highlighter on the round face always keep in mind that round face length and parameters are equal so we will apply highlight to make face mimic elongated. You can use any kind of highlighters cream, powder or liquid.Highlight in the center of the forehead and on the bridge of the nose. Then on the center of the chin and also little bit on your cheek bone and this is you highlight placement.

How To Contour:

Then apply contour cream or powder for contouring to further give definition to the face and narrow down the face.Stay away from shimmers and glitters.
Start right in the area from ear and then drag it down to chin. It will slim down the round edges.Contour the temples in the C shapes  also that narrow the round edge and then also contour the nose to slim down by contouring and shading the sides.Use the edge of the brush.

Blend all these lines to create smooth and seamless finish. Do It with rolling motions and placing the product on the place by pushing into the skin.

As you can see in the pic the jaw line is contoured in a V Shapes to give sharp look to the face and temples as well to create V Shapes.

Square Shape:

The drawback of square face is it make you look more aged then you actually are.with the help of contouring and highlighting face can be soften.

PRO TIP: Soften face by highlighting and contouring the sharp edges of the face.

How To Highlight:

In square shape face the temples cheekbones and jawline are in the same line and are at equal distance at the center of the face. our goal in this face shape n to round the square face and also some angular features

start by Highlighting at the center of the forehead and then to the chin to elongate the face then to connect the two we will draw the small line just at the center of the nose
then we will highlight under the eye we will start from tear duct and pull down and out. Do the same the other side apply on the cheek bone and sides of the mouth

How To Contour:

Now we will soften the face parameters by contour. When choosing the contour always keep on mind not to select too orange shade or something that has shimmer.Drag the product right along the Jaw line next scooping right under the cheekbone. Then Contour on the sides of the nose to the tip of the nose.Do the same to the other side.

Next we will blend, All the focus should be from dark to light by pressing the product as its easier to blend from dark to light.Finish off by using translucent powder to set the face.

Oval Shape:

Oval face is generally a balanced shape. We highlight and contour the Oval shape to enhance the features and to maintain the balance.

How To Highlight:

Start highlighting right under the eye. when doing forehead focus more upward by creating an arch or half circle.Highlight on the bridge of the nose,Sides of the nose and also on the sides of the lips to give a nice lift.Highlight also on the sides of the jaw.Do the same on the other side.

Pro Tip: Contour with the angled side or tip of the brush.

How To Contour:

I recommend using contour in the brown family and taupe's. we are gonna start highlighting outside the cheek,Next contour outside of the fore head it just not only minimizes your hair line but also also really enhances your face shape. Then we will focus on contouring the nose. Then do little bit of contouring outside of the jaw.Repeat same on the other side.

After highlighting and contouring Blend all the mapping you have done and get the perfect look.Always blend from dark to light.

Heart Shape

In the Heart shape face the temples and the cheek bones are wider then the rest of the face and it gets narrower down of the face.

Pro Tip:Widest at the temples Tapers to a narrow chin.

How To Highlight:

How to Highlight this face shape.Start with the Jaw line then  bridge of the nose, under the eye  and then top of the cheeks also.sides of the lips and chin area should also be done to keep the balance.

How To Contour:

Now face is ready for contouring. This face shape does not need to contour much at jaw line as its narrower from the chin and jawline so we will not contour much.We will contour the for head to balance the width of temples and we will contour from the cheek bone imagine to bring it right to the mouth. We will bring down the contour to narrow the nose.

Next step is to Blend this all to create a seamless airbrushed finished look by following to set the face by translucent powder.

These are the few basic steps that you can follow to change your look and enhance your good feature and create a balance.
